It is now part of the lore of the Samsung Galaxy S III that the Korean based manufacturer destroyed 600,000 pebble blue back covers because they did not meet Samsung's high standards. Some of the covers displayed white blotches that could be seen when viewed at a specific angle. This, of course, led to some shortages and delays overseas where the phone has already been launched.

However, the blotch is not easy to see as it is below the surface and the back has to be at an angle. While it might not jump out at you, if you keep staring at it like one of those Magic Eye pictures, eventually you will see it. Hopefully this doesn't take as long to figure out as the white version of the Apple iPhone 4 did. Apple was said to have tried a number of coating combinations in an attempt to keep the light from leaking from the white casing.

An official confirmation was received that Samsung is delaying the Pebble Blue Galaxy S III units due to some manufacturing issues regarding the paintjob and the panels' material.

Clove has informed preorders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III will be delayed until June 1st, rather than the announced May 30th release date. The blue variant is expected to be delayed even further, with supplies set to be available on June 5th, although that date is tentative.
